Britalian Afternoon Tea #1

£275.00

We will be get a batch of Britalian scones (flavoured with candied orange peel and sultanas soaked in Marsala wine) ready for our elevenses. We will prepare the crumbliest buttery biscuits, and practice our shaping skills with pasticcini al caffè (coffee and almond cookies). We will bake the legendary (and irresistible) abbracci (literally: ‘hugs’, vanilla and cocoa biscuits), and finally enjoy the lemoniest lemon biscuits with biscotti al limone, the perfect companion for a cup of strong tea.

Lunch is included

You will be treated to a generous Italian lunch, typically including a starter of dips like my garlic-free hummus or my Tuscan chicken liver patè, a seasonal soup like roasted peppers or asparagus, a substantial main like my iconic meatballs or a selection of Italian cheeses, a fresh salad like tomatoes & cucumber or rocket & parmesan, all accompanied by my favourite Italian red and white wines. Needless to say, everything is strictly home-made!

All you need is boxes

As well as lunch, coffee, tea and refreshment throughout the day, everything else is included: pre-weighed ingredients, consumables and access to all necessary baking tools and equipment. You do not need to bring anything with you other than a few containers to take home some of your delicious bakes.

Skill level

This class is suitable for beginners with little or no experience of baking as well as more experienced bakers looking for some Italian inspiration.

Allergies

This class uses gluten, dairy products, eggs, nuts, seeds, sulphites, gelatine, celery, and other known allergens. We take caution to prevent cross-contamination, but equipment and tools will be shared during the class, therefore we are unable to guarantee that the food is allergen free. If you are concerned and would like to discuss this further, please contact us before you book.

Special dietary requirements

We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements for lunch; where this proves impossible or problematic, we will inform you in advance of the class date.

How to get there

The class is held at The Foodworks Cookery School, Colesbourne Park, Cheltenham GL53 9NP.

For satnav, you can use Google directions. Alternatively, the what3words directions will guide you straight to the school’s front door: ///shape.pampering.quack

There is plenty of parking space for everybody in the front yard, if you are driving.

If travelling by train, the closest station is Cheltenham Spa. The school is a 20-minute taxi ride away. I would recommend Starline Taxis, on 01242 250250. You may use Uber: it will redirect your booking to Starline anyway, but it will be slightly more expensive.

If you have any questions about this class, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
